- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and build relationships with suppliers and manufacturers worldwide. Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts to ensure favorable agreements for the company.
- Product Selection: Collaborate with design and merchandising teams to determine product requirements, trends, and customer preferences. Source products that align with the company's brand and market positioning.
- Quality Control: Ensure that sourced products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct quality checks and audits on samples and finished products.
- Cost Management: Work to optimize costs while maintaining quality. Analyze pricing structures, production processes, and logistics to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Supply Chain Coordination: Coordinate the movement of products from suppliers to distribution centers or stores. Monitor production timelines, shipping, and delivery schedules to meet inventory needs.
- Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and global market dynamics. Use this information to make informed decisions about sourcing strategies.
- Risk Management: Mitigate potential risks in the supply chain, such as disruptions in production, shipping delays, or quality issues.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including design, merchandising, production, logistics, and finance to ensure a seamless sourcing process.
Kualifikasi
- Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as fashion merchandising, supply chain management, business, or a related discipline. A master's degree or additional certifications can be beneficial.
- Experience: Previous experience in product sourcing, supply chain management, or procurement within the fashion retail industry is typically required. Experience in global sourcing is particularly valuable due to the international scope of the role.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the fashion industry, including trends, materials, production processes, and market dynamics.
- Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation and communication skills are essential for securing favorable terms with suppliers and manufacturers.
- Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze data, market trends, and pricing structures to make informed decisions and optimize sourcing strategies.
- Attention to Detail: Given the importance of quality control, meticulous attention to detail is necessary to ensure that products meet the desired standards.
- Project Management: Effective project management skills to coordinate sourcing activities, monitor timelines, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Cultural Awareness: Global product sourcing involves working with suppliers from different countries and cultures, so cultural sensitivity and understanding are crucial.
- Problem-Solving: The ability to quickly address and resolve issues that may arise in the sourcing process, such as production delays or quality concerns.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for data analysis, communication, and supply chain management.
