🚀 About the Role
As an Engineering Systems Architect, you'll own the end-to-end technical architecture across multiple systems and teams. Your mission: ensure everything we build is scalable, integrated, resilient, and aligned with business goals.
You’ll work at the intersection of software engineering, infrastructure, and product, designing high-leverage systems and guiding teams in building them right — not just fast.
🎯 What You’ll Be Doing
- Architect and evolve the backbone of our engineering systems (across backend, frontend, data, and infrastructure)
- Own and maintain system-level blueprints, integration patterns, and scaling strategies
- Drive system design reviews, RFC processes, and cross-team technical alignment
- Analyze bottlenecks, system failure points, and technical debt — and design for resilience
- Collaborate with product, infra, and data teams to build cohesive, modular systems
- Define engineering principles and architectural guardrails across the org
- Stay ahead of scaling challenges — anticipate what breaks before it does
Requirements
✅ What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with 2–3 years in a systems/architecture role
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, messaging queues, and system integration
- Strong backend engineering experience (e.g., Node.js, Go, Java, Python)
- Proficient in designing and scaling event-driven, API-first, or modular monolith architectures
- Fluency in cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), Docker/K8s, CI/CD, and system observability
- Strong instincts around tradeoffs: performance vs cost, consistency vs availability, velocity vs maintainability
- Experience navigating and simplifying complex inter-team dependencies
💡 Bonus Points For:
- Experience designing internal developer platforms or shared services
- Familiarity with domain-driven design (DDD), system thinking, or evolutionary architecture
- Prior work in high-scale environments (millions of users or large datasets)
- Exposure to data pipelines, integrations, or compliance-driven architectures
