Job Description
About The Role
At Tentang Anak, we move super fast because we work for the needs of 80 million Indonesian children & families that can’t wait. We seek people who are hungry to solve problems, accountable, and bring speed in everything they do.
Tentang Anak is on a mission to help 80 million children in Indonesia grow up healthier, happier, and better supported. We do this by building trusted products across multiple categories, from nutrition and skincare to children's intellectual property (books, play kits, educational tools, and more).
We’re looking for a NPD Planning to play a pivotal role in our Supply Chain team by owning NPD pipeline project management across all brands (Expert Care, Expert Boost, Thinker Tales). This role will ensure Tentang Anak maintains established pipeline of new products supporting fast business growth ambition.
If you're passionate about turning strategy into actionable insights, working cross-functionally, and building stellar product launches in a competitive‑market environment, this role is for you.
What You’ll Own
Stage-Gate Governance
- Own the end-to-end NPD stage-gate framework: define gate criteria, facilitate gate review meetings, and issue Go/Hold/Kill recommendations to cross-functional leadership.
- Maintain a live Project Health Dashboard covering all active NPD and packaging development projects, updated weekly with milestone status (On Track / At Risk / Delayed).
- Ensure no project advances to the next stage without a completed gate checklist — verbal assurances are not gate clearance.
Cross‑Functional Timeline & Dependency Management
- Build and maintain a RACI-linked dependency tracker across R&D, Regulatory, Procurement (RMPM), OEM partners, Marketing, and Demand Planning for every active project.
- Run weekly cross-functional syncs to surface broken dependencies, assign recovery owners, and recalculate critical path impact.
- Conduct monthly timeline re-baselining: compare planned vs. actual, quantify slippage, and present business impact (revenue delay, OEM slot loss) to leadership.
Change Control & Scope Management
- Present a monthly Change Impact Summary to leadership: number of changes absorbed vs. changes that caused timeline shifts.
- Be the person who says “that change costs us 3 weeks” when others assume changes are free.
Launch Readiness Orchestration
- Run a biweekly or monthly Launch Readiness Countdown: artwork sign-off received, OEM production slot confirmed, materials PO issued, demand forecast locked, trade materials ready. Binary status per item.
- Facilitate pre-mortem exercises for each project within 3 months of planned launch: “If this launch fails, what was the most likely cause?”
- Coordinate (not execute) the handoff from project mode to BAU: ensure Demand Planning has the forecast, Logistics has the distribution plan, and Customer Service has product knowledge.
NPD Knowledge Management
- In collaboration with NPD team, conduct and document a Post-Launch Review within 30 days of every launch: planned vs. actual timeline, root cause of slippage, lessons learned, recommended process changes.
- Maintain and version-control the Master NPD Template Library: gate checklists, change request forms, launch readiness trackers, RACI templates.
What Success Looks Like
Month 1-3
- Stage-gate framework documented and socialized: gate definitions, deliverable checklists, RACI per gate, escalation path. Approved by Head of Supply Chain and cross-functional leads.
- Project Health Dashboard live and updated weekly for all active NPD projects (target: 100% project coverage).
- Change Request Register operational with first monthly Change Impact Summary presented to leadership.
Month 4-6
- First full NPD cycle completed under the new stage-gate discipline — with documented gate decisions (Go/Hold/Kill) and timestamps.
- On-Time Launch Rate baseline established and reported (even if the number is uncomfortable — the baseline is the deliverable, not the target).
- Gate Compliance Rate at ≥70%: at least 70% of gate events have a complete checklist before the project advances.
- At least 2 Post-Launch Reviews completed and filed in the NPD knowledge base.
Month 7-12
- On-Time Launch Rate ≥85% (within ±2 weeks of gate-approved date).
- Gate Compliance Rate ≥90%.
- Change Request Containment ≤20% of projects with unplanned post-Gate 2 changes per quarter.
- Master NPD Template Library v2.0 published, incorporating lessons learned from at least 4 completed project cycles.
- Demonstrated ability to say “Hold” at a gate and have it stick — meaning leadership backs the call.
Requirements
You’re a Fit If
- You have a track record of managing NPD or innovation project timelines in FMCG, consumer health, or personal care — not just participating in them, but owning the process end-to-end.
- You are comfortable being the person who tells a VP or Division Head that their project is not passing a gate today — and you can do it with data (fact-based).
- You understand OEM/toll manufacturing dynamics: you know that your production slot is shared, that your timeline depends on someone else’s factory calendar, and that “we’ll figure it out” is not a plan.
- You think in dependencies, not tasks. When someone tells you “the artwork is late,” your first question is “what does that do to the packaging material PO, the OEM production window, and the launch date?”
- You have managed 5–10+ concurrent projects simultaneously and can show how you kept them organized (tools, trackers, cadences — we want to see your system).
Requirement
Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred fields (in order of relevance):
- Industrial Engineering — the strongest fit: process design, systems thinking, and project management are core curriculum.
- Chemical Engineering or Food Technology — provides enough technical literacy to understand NPD workstreams without being the one executing them.
- Supply Chain Management / Logistics — relevant if complemented by NPD or innovation project experience.
- Business Administration / Management — acceptable only with demonstrated FMCG operations or project management depth; pure commercial profiles will struggle.
5–8 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years in a role directly managing NPD, innovation, or product launch project timelines in one of the following:
- FMCG company (consumer health, personal care, food & beverage, baby care)
- OEM/contract manufacturer serving FMCG brands
- Management consulting with FMCG supply chain or operations practice
Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects (5+ simultaneously) through a structured stage-gate or phase-gate process.
Hands-on experience with cross-functional coordination involving R&D, Regulatory, Procurement, Manufacturing/OEM, Marketing, and Supply Planning.
Proficiency in project management tools: MS Project, Asana, Lark or equivalent.
Strong Excel/Google Sheets capability: pivot tables, conditional formatting, timeline trackers. You will build dashboards before we have enterprise PM software.
Tips Menjaga Diri
